An Open Letter to the Drivers of Washington, DC.
Dear Drivers, I hate you. I hate you all collectively. I want to like you; it’s my general policy to assume that people are nice until I’ve seen otherwise. But your constant use of the car horn in the wee hours of the morning has caused me to assume that you are, in general, inconsiderate bastards.  I realize that driving in DC is frustrating and a terrible way to start out your day,...

A Serious Super Important Question.
Do you think that if you read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, then watched The Reichenbach Fall episode of Sherlock, and then read Alone in the Water, you could die from crying too much? Oh man, what if you threw Marley and Me or P.S. I Love You into the mix? These are the things that I think about just when I wake up.

Lilly's Laws of Fan Fiction
These, as I mentioned in my last post, are the rules I outline on my profile for fanfiction.net (don’t feel obligated to click. There’s nothing there but the Laws and a few unfinished fics from my embarrassing Twilight days that I can’t bring myself to take down because apparently people get joy out of them). Lilly’s Laws of Fanfiction: I.) Never read a fanfiction with an...

RULE TIME
Ok, so my recent experiences on Tumblr have made me want to express myself through a set of rules. I do this with a lot of things. I have fanfiction rules, which I will post shortly because it occurs to me that no one has probably ever looked at my fanfiction Author Page, where they are… Anyways, I also have rules for interacting with people who think they are better than you, rules for...

Sherlock Valentine!!!
Edit: I’m glad you all like this so much! I just wanted to make one thing clear, so as not to be the kind of person I hate. I didn’t make it! I found it, but couldn’t find a source or credit. If you made it, tell me so I can give you credit please! DFTBA :)

The Flip-Flopper Paradigm
In American politics, candidates often receive a lot of flack for changing positions on an issue. It’s understandable that people want a candidate that is consistent, so they have a good idea what choices the person will make once in office. However, we live in such a complex world, and a quickly evolving one at that. Anyone who never changes their mind is either lying about what they...

Help Scientists With Research! →
Some of what needs to be done in scientific research is time consuming, but doesn’t require much training. For instance, one of the ways to detect planets orbiting stars is to look at graphs of their brightness, looking for dimness in the star’s output. Anyone who can read a graph can do this. You could even receive credit in a scientific paper!
